Other than USA Hockey inadvertently showing a picture of a Boston College Eagle as they announced his name, Monday went exactly as Ottawa 67’s winger Shane Prince hoped and planned.
"The Evolution of Systems” with Wayne Wilson, coach of the RIT Tigers Men’s Hockey Team. We discussed how systems have evolved in hockey, why they’re important, and when they became an emphasis in terms of development.
"Why Junior Hockey” Tony Maksymiu from the Rochester Stars joined us and briefed us on the importance of playing junior hockey to further development, laid out the junior hockey landscape, and we were joined by Chris Byrne, Coach/GM of the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL and Shayne Stockton, former Maksymum student and current member of division 1 Holy Cross.
Martindale, Toffoli, Prince all among Top 10 in OHL scoring.
Brian Kilrea has seen his share of explosive forward units in his time, but even the legendary coach is awestruck by the performance of the Ottawa 67’s top line these days.
Ryan Martindale, the lanky play-making centre, an Edmonton Oilers prospect; Tyler Toffoli, the surefire sniper, selected by the L.A. Kings in front of their home crowd at last summer’s draft; and speedster Shane Prince, who celebrated his 18th birthday Tuesday by seeing his name listed in Central Scouting’s preliminary rankings for the 2011 NHL draft. Prince is the OHL’s 18th-ranked skater.
